Medical Services
St. Louis is also a leading medical center. There are over 50 hospitals in the region including the networks of the BJC Health System and Unity Health System. There are two outstanding medical schools: Washington University and St. Louis University. These are complemented by the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Logan College of Chiropractic.
Before relocating to the area, here are some tips to help make the transition from your present medical care facilities and doctor to those in the Metropolitan St. Louis area:
- Consult with your physician for a recommendation. Your doctor is familiar with your needs and preferences. If your doctor cannot recommend someone in this area, consult with a local professional/medical association.
- Local medical schools and hospitals may provide information on medical care and physicians.
- Check the Directory of Medical Specialists in a large local hospital’s medical library. It lists physicians by their age, training, and geographic location.
